The motion unit

The SoulNomad's polystyrene chassis houses has a footprint of 206x270 mm, or roughly DIN-A4 size including the tracks. The case has an internal width of 67x249 mm and houses the two motors and a twin gearbox.
The motors run on 5V; they draw about 0.3 A unloaded and have a stall current of 1 Amp. They are (not yet) connected to two h-bridges for direction control; speed is controlled through pulse-width modulation.
The gearbox ratio is about 100:1 (very rough estimate), resulting almost exactly in 60 rpm on the drive axles or about 82 mm/s at full speed.
The tracks are 63 mm wide and consist of PE or polyolefine. Each runs on four 44 mm trailing wheels and is connected to the gearbox by a 26mm 8-tooth pinion wheel.
